We had a wonderful Autumnal October weekend on Wilmcote. The weather was mixed with 2 days of glorious sun and 1 day of rain. The barge was well equipped and maintained. A real bonus was the pot bellied stove, kept us really warm in the evenings and when it rained we were able to dry our clothes really quickly. We managed in 2 days to get just past Newbury where we turned around to come back. The weekend was the most relaxing we've had for ages. We definitely recommend doing this if you want to get away from it all. Plenty of varied views, some reasonable stretches between locks and also some exciting sequences of locks. A really great break, thank you. T&A. Wilmcote. Oct. We had a lovely week on Halcyon Days, only wishing our holiday could have been longer. She is a great boat, and has all you need for a get away from it all break. Thank you. P/J/J/H from Portsmouth on Halcyon Days. Sept 08. Hi Paul, as Nick will probably have told you by now,we had a ******* [really] great time on the Wilmcote. She was a great pleasure and a relaxing dream to pootle along on/in. We want to come back and do a week next time. I will definitely be telling overstressed clients about this experience. Wilmcote therapy rules ok! SK on Wilmcote, Aug 08. Many thanks to Paul and Nick for the hiring of a tipi for the day at Earley St Peter's CE Primary School where the Year 5 children are working this half term on a project on Native American Indians. The tipi was a fantastic experience and the children were absolutely thrilled to sketch it first from the outside, learning about it and then stepping inside to experience what it was like to live in it. In fact, many other classes of children in the school and their teachers decided to pop over to the field where it was erected to have a look in the afternoon. Thank you again, it was a great day for us all involved. ML Class teacher at Earley St Peter's School, Reading, Sept 08. We had a fab 3 day trip on Wilmcote. A great pre-trip pep talk from Paul. We didn't get that far, but had a great time and even caught 2 of the infamous crayfish. Quite hard work keeping an eye on our 2 small kids (3 and 5) but certainly worth it for the enjoyable trip they had and the help they gave me at the locks! We'll certainly be back. Lorraine, Aug 08 on Wilmcote Taking the barge all the way through from Reading to Bath with my 14 year old lad was both rewarding and relaxing - even negotiating all the locks at Devises was great fun. It made a welcome change from our usual activities and just wonderful to cruise slowly through the Berkshire and Wiltshire countryside at our leisure. It was a true 'canal experience' in a well maintained and well appointed boat. Many thanks JS, Abergavenny Aug 08 on Wilmcote It was indeed a huge success - ... was most disappointed to hear your tipi was on loan and not for 'ever'. I would definitely like to order the same tent for the whole w'end in Aug... SJW July 08 The whole thing was amazing - thank you. The bride to be said that is it more than she could ever have dreamed off. We all cycled around the coast dressed as Red Indians and felt like we were 10 again. It was great. Everyone thought the tipi was magnificent. We got 14 girls in! FV. July 08 I just wanted to pass on my considerable gratitude for such a fabulous weekend. All of the lads and especially .... (the groom to be) had a cracking time - I can certainly say that at least half of them (myself included) said that they will be narrowboating again in the future - Thank you once again for a great experience and for making us so welcome aboard your boat.
