So, how do I hire a canal boat?
Ever want to get off the relentless treadmill, to cease the whizzing around, the
non-stop pace of life? Or do you want a family adventure stepping back in time to
experience first hand the industrial revolution?

Either way, we have the perfect activity for you, a Canal Experience.

We are a small family-run business that prides itself on its personal touch: from the
first time you come into contact with us, helping you through the booking process,
meeting you and showing you the boat and instructing you how to handle it
confidently, how to navigate the locks and swing bridges safely, and providing on-
going support during your trip.

Your safety and comfort is always our main concern. Our boat handling, lock
instruction and safety briefings reflect this. We are members of the British Marine
Federation of Pleasure Craft Operaters who are at the forefront of the boating
industry, promoting best practice and setting high safety standards, which Canal
Experience is committed to meeting.

Our boats are regularly professionally serviced and maintained and for your additional
peace of mind all our boats are covered by River Canal Rescue Gold Membership in
the rare event there is a problem we can't fix ourselves. We are also committed to
protecting the environment that we work in, and to being active in our local and
business community. We are members of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, the
Kennet and Avon Traders Association, and Tourism South East.

5. Prepare. Your safety is our main concern. Experienced and new boater alike,
please download and read the boaters handbook and watch the boaters video. We
are also supporters of the Considerate Boater code of conduct. Have a look! We
have also prepared a Powerpoint presentation on how to navigate a lock which you
may find useful in helping to understand the process if you've never done it before.

We have copies of the Boaters handbook and the Considerate Boater on board each
boat.
Recent moves by the government to raise funds by selling of
BW property has led many bodies to oppose the move,
including ourselves.

Please join us in Petitioning the Prime Minister to protect our
canals by not selling off property owned by British waterways.
